My Entrepreneurship Story

A time in my life where I have been exposed to entrepreneurship has taken place first with my dad. He started his own dental practice before I was born and grew it into a great business. Then when we moved to Florida, he sold that one and then started another practice. It has always been very interesting watching how my dad combined the medical field with the business field, and how he ran the business.

Additionally, this summer a friend of mine started an app called Knack that helps connect students with tutors in their area. I asked my friend a lot of questions about how he came up with the idea and the process he had to take in order to make his business happen.

I took this class because it has always interested me how one comes up with an idea and then implements that to create a business. I hope to gain more of a "business mind" after taking this class.

  2. Hello Lauren,

I was also exposed to entrepreneurship through family as well. My uncle owns his own cottages in Upstate New York ( http://entwill3003.blogspot.com/2016/01/my-entrepreneurship-story.html#comment-form ), although it was probably around five years since last time I went, so I never really had a entrepreneur conversation with him. So, it's very cool that you have your friend that created the app "Knack" to go to, to ask questions about entrepreneurship. I hope this class helps give me that business entrepreneur "mind" as well as you.

  3. Hey Lauren! My dad also started a business. He started a construction business when I was very young and I watched it grow and grow until he ultimately sold his trucks and moved on to other interests. It was nice to see that I can relate to someone that has had first hand experience in a family business. You and I also have the same interest in this class. I hope that this class gives me what I need to start my own business one day. I wish you the best of luck in all of your entrepreneurial ventures going forward!
